Two weeks from today, Furious Riding will be starting the journey from London to Paris in support of Bloodwise, a UK-based charity which raises money for blood cancer research.
I will be riding from London to Paris for the second time, after completing the ride in 2015. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life.
This time around though, things will be a little different.
My father John (pictured top) passed away in December 2015 after a long battle with Multiple Myeloma. Whilst his death has been hard to bear, I remind myself every day that I was fortunate enough to have had time with him before his death: time that was gifted to me by medical programs which would not have been possible but for the work of organisations like Bloodwise.
I can not express my gratitude for this and wish, in some small way, to pay a little bit of that back, so that in the future someone else gets the same gift that I did.
A donation will help give that gift to someone else.
If you like, you can make a donation at this page. It’s greatly appreciated.
In case you are curious, here’s the route:
That’s 500km, in 4 days.
The Bloodwise L2P ride is superbly organised – with pro and semi-pro ride captains, doctors on bikes, support vehicles, masseuses, a moto outrider crew (avec some stunning moustaches) more energy drinks than you can shake a fixie at (supplied by Torq) and a simply extraordinary group of riders. The people I met last year are amongst some of the most inspiring human beings I’ve ever known.
I’ll be posting updates from the road, via our Instagram, Facebook and Twitter feeds as well as here on the site.
Please join us as we hit the road. Thanks.
And finally, well… watch this:
